Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night, a pregnant woman drove into the parking lot of the New York State Police barracks in Brewster to report a crime in progress.
After taking the pregnant woman into custody, troopers began their investigation into the incident, and determined that Danbury resident Allen Bredbenner had allegedly struck the woman several times in the face and stomach with a closed fist while he was a passenger in the vehicle.
The woman was taken to Putnam Hospital for evaluation. Neither her condition, nor that of her unborn child was available on Friday afternoon.
Bredbenner was arrested and charged with third-degree assault and reckless endangerment, both misdemeanors. Following arraignment, he was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. He is due back in the Town of Southeast Court later this year to answer the charges.
